Independence Day 2024: What's Open, Closed Around Reston
Most government offices will be closed and some county services will operate differently on Thursday for the Independence Day holiday.
RESTON, VA — Many services, agencies and government offices in Reston will be closed on Thursday for the Fourth of July holiday.
Some services around Reston are closed or modified for the federal holiday on Thursday, July 4. Below are the changes to know.
Reston Association offices, including Nature House and Central Service Facility: Closed on July 4.

Fairfax County government offices: Closed on July 4.
Schools: Fairfax County Public Schools are closed for the summer but all school offices will be closed July 4.

Reston Community Center: Hunters Woods is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on July 4. Lake Anne is closed.
Courts: The Fairfax County Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will be closed July 4.

Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers in Northern Virginia will be closed on July 4.
Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector will operate Saturday service on July 4. Routes running on Thursday are: 101,109,151, 152, 161, 162, 171, 308, 310, 321, 322, 371, 401, 402, 423, 463, 467, 558, 574, 605, 615, 622, 630, 642, 651, 662, 672, 703, 721, 803, 901, 921, 924, 937, 950, 952, 954, 983, RIBS 1, RIBS 2, RIBS 3, RIBS 4 and RIBS 5. If a route is not listed above, it does not operate Sunday service. Others will not operate on July 4. See more information on Fairfax Connector's website.
Libraries: On July 4, Reston Regional Library and all Fairfax County Public Library locations will be closed.

Metrorail will open at 7 a.m. and close at midnight. Regular weekday fares will be in effect until 5 p.m. All trips after 5 p.m. will be fare-free, and parking will be free all day at Metro-owned garages and lots. More weekend Metrorail information here.
