Loaded Firearm, Narcotics Found During Traffic Stop In Reston: Video

RESTON, VA — A 45-year-old Sterling man is facing multiple charges, including being in possession of narcotics with a firearm, after he was stopped by a Fairfax County Police officer in Reston on Wednesday night.

An officer on patrol around 9:10 p.m. in the South Lakes Drive and Southgate Square area spotted a vehicle displaying a license plate that belonged to another vehicle, according to police. After making a traffic stop, the officer saw narcotics inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, the officer found suspected narcotics, narcotic paraphernalia, and a loaded rifle with a 100-round extended magazine.

The officer arrested Shannon Maxwell of Sterling and charged him with fictitious plates, possession of schedule I/II narcotics, possession of narcotics with a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a magazine with a capacity over 20 rounds, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to police. Maxwell was taken the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was held without bond.
