Fairfax County Fire units are on the scene of a gas leak from a 6-inch line.

RESTON, VA — A gas leak in Reston has been shut off, but not before it resulted in the shutdown of a portion of Sunset Hills Road.

Fairfax County Fire/Rescue tweeted at 11:28 a.m. that units were on the scene at 11300 block of Sunset Hills Road with a "possible 6 inch gas line leaking." An update shortly after indicated that crews had checked all surrounding buildings and cleared them, but occupants were advised to shelter in place as a precaution.

Sunset Hills Road was shut down between Metro Center Drive and Wiehle Avenue in the meantime. At 1:14 p.m., the all-clear was given indicating that the leak had been shut off, about 45 minutes after the gas company arrived.
