RESTON, VA -- The Silver Line Metro extension currently being constructed from Reston Town Center to Loudoun County has major problems, according to an alarming new report.

NBC 4 reports that "significant concrete issues" have been found at possibly thousands of locations along the second phase of the Silver Line, which is currently under construction and is scheduled to open starting with the Reston Town Center station in 2020.

Specifically, the problem affects pre-cast panels, which will have to be treated every 10 years with a special substance.

NBC reporter Adam Tuss posted pictures of panels that have signs attached to them that read: "PRECAST PANEL TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED - DO NOT INSTALL ANY WORK ON THIS PANEL."
