Man Bites Police Officers at Reston Metro Kiss and Ride: Police

A New York man faces a litany of charges after police say he assaulted a bus driver and then fought with responding police officers.

RESTON, VA — A New York man has been arrested after police say he assaulted a bus driver and then fought with officers who came to arrest him at the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station Monday morning.

Police were called to the Metro Kiss and Ride in the 11300 block of Reston Station Boulevard at 11:23 a.m. on Nov. 28 to a report of a man assaulting a bus driver and a Metro Security Officer, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

"Officers attempted to stop the assault and the suspect ignored their commands," the report states. "Officers attempted to gain control of the suspect and he began to assault them and inflicted bite marks on the officers."

Police arrested 31-year-old Sameer Jaspal of Albany, N.Y., on two counts of assault and battery, one count of assault on law enforcement, and one count of obstruction of justice.

He is currently being held at the adult detention center in Fairfax County.
