The crash happened in Great Falls. Police have ruled out alcohol as a factor.

A man is dead after his car crashed into a tree in Great Falls and threw him underneath the vehicle, which burst into flames, according to a police report.
Detectives from the Reston Police District have determined that it was a 2001 Volvo S40 that struck the tree in the 300 block of River Bend Road on July 20 shortly after 3 p.m.
"Officers, along with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department personnel located the crash and found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames," the report adds. "One adult male had apparently been ejected and was found under the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit were summoned to investigate the crash."

Authorities believe the Volvo was headed south on River Bend Road when partially crossed the double-yellow line. When the driver saw another vehicle traveling north in the same area of River Bend Road, he apparently swerved to avoid hitting it, leaving the roadway and striking a tree.
Police have identified the man as 24-year-old David Reese Alison IV of Great Falls. Police looked into the possibility of alcohol being involved in the crash, but after further investigation, authorities don't suspect that to be the case.
