MD Man Arrested In Tysons May Be Linked To Multiple Armed Robberies
An off-duty police officer assisted in the apprehension of a suspect in an armed bank robbery that took place Wednesday in Reston.

RESTON, VA — An off-duty police officer helped Fairfax County Police apprehend and arrest 37-year-old Zachary Allen Hunter of Maryland in connection with the armed robbery of a Reston bank on Wednesday, according to a police release.
Around 9:28 a.m., Hunter implied that he had a firearm and passed a note demanding currency from an employee at the Wells Fargo Bank at 1498 North Point Village Center in Reston, according to police. He then fled the area in a Mercedes sedan.
Alerted to the robbery, Fairfax County Police units spread out across the area in an attempt to stop Hunter's escape on local highways.

Hearing the sirens, an off-duty officer began monitoring his radio and saw the Mercedes turn onto Lincoln Lane in Tysons, according to police. The vehicle did not exit. The off-duty officer called other units to the area. After finding Hunter slouched down in his vehicle, police took him into custody.
Police charged Hunter with one count of robbery and he was held without bond. Police reported that no firearm was found in connection with Wednesday's robbery.

Detectives believe that Hunter may have been involved in other bank robberies across the Washington metro region.
