Monsters in Reston? New Book Aims to Send Locals on an Adventure

A new book by Restonians is meant to be a family-friendly adventure.

RESTON, VA — Halloween may have come and gone, but you can still get a taste of the spooky right here in Reston thanks to a new book: "Myths & Monsters of Reston, Virginia: The Phenomenal and Frightening Findings of Dr. Padraigin W. Thalmeus, Pds."

The authors will be on hand at Reston Town Center to talk about their book this Sunday, Dec. 11 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

"Reston, Virginia could be the most monstered town in all the world," the book's Amazon description states. "At least according to the recently unearthed journal of the scholarly yet skittish Dr. Padraigin W. Thalmeus, PDS., circa 1819. Join our team of modern day paranormal researchers as we discover the supernatural creatures that Dr. Thalmeus faced on his perilous quest for a legendary hidden treasure. Perhaps these myths and monsters are still haunting to this day!"

Myths & Monsters of Reston, Virginia is meant to be a "family-friendly adventure that encourages readers of alla ges to get outside, explore and discovery nature," as well as let their imaginations run wild, the description adds.

"Join our team of modern day paranormal researchers as we discover the supernatural creatures—a banshee, sea monster, ghosts, troll, Sasquatch, The Bunny Man, and much more—that Dr. Thalmeus faced on his perilous quest for a legendary hidden treasure," the book's website states.

The authors of the book, Eric MacDicken and Kristina S. Alcorn, have both been residents of Reston for decades.

The book currently costs $13.99 and is available in paperback.
