Nathen Phillips, who is running against two other candidates to be the Lake Anne/Tall Oaks District director, did not complete a Patch candidate questionnaire. The following is his opening statement from Tuesday night's candidate forum, which can be viewed online.

"I'm Nathan Phillips. I am running for the Lake Anne/Tall Oaks seat. I have a couple priorities. OK, first and foremost, I want to make sure that the utility of every single dollar given to the Reston Association is experienced and felt by those who are paying it, right? These are decisions we're making. These are dollars that we're spending. It needs to be clear and obvious to every single resident.
"The second thing is to bring those who are not members into the folds. We experience the same services, we're experiencing the same Reston, and therefore we all ought to be members.
"The third is that the golf courses and our green common spaces remain maintained in perpetuity.
"And finally, I want to see a change to the cultural norm where assessment increases happen every year. And I know that I can lead this seat from experience, right? I've worked in state and federal government for almost 15 years. I've worked hourly jobs. I've served in the military forward deployed, and I think I have the grit that it takes to serve. That is the discipline I will bring to the board and the standard which I'll hold. Thank you."
