National Weather Service Issues Winter Weather Advisory for Reston

Snow and rain may impact local roads, according to NWS.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the region, which includes Reston.

The advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent, according to the NWS.

“Periods of snow will cause travel difficulties,” according to the NWS. “Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.”

Between 2 to 5 inches of snow are expected to accumulate in the far northern and western suburbs of Washington, D.C. A coating of up to an inch is expected near Interstate 95.

Rain is expected to change to snow Wednesday morning and the heaviest snow is predicted to fall between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to the weather service.

Roads may become covered in snow and get slippery, particularly in the areas with the heavier snow forecasted. Snow is also likely to reduce visibility. Drivers should use caution.

Thursday the high is expected to be about 40 degrees with a 20 percent chance of some precipitation in the morning.

Friday should be good for Black Friday shopping, parades and other activities: The forecast is for sunny skies but chilly, with a high of 35 degrees.
