New Chocolate Shop Sweet Signatures Opens Doors with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Restonians with a sweet tooth have reason to celebrate this week after dessert maker Sweet Signatures opened its doors at a new storefront location in town this week.

The town marked the arrival of the new chocolate shop with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday evening, as confirmed by creator and owner Monica Archondo the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce’s Twitter account.

The shop is located at 22446 Davis Drive in Sterling between Routes 28 and 7 as well as Sterling Boulevard.

After catering strictly to the online marketplace since the business was born in 2008 — primarily by catering to corporate businesses across the country — Archondo thought Sweet Signatures had grown enough to warrant its first storefront.

She noted the new physical location was as much for manufacturing space as it was to create a carry-out market. The new location deals with manufacturing of a now-expanded product line — growing from only chocolates to pastries, other desserts, coffees and more — as well as the packaging and shipping of products across the country.

However, Archondo takes great pride in how her store front may welcome new customers from throughout town. The dining area features leather seating for 20, beautiful tabletops, chandeliers and other effects that set Sweet Signatures apart from the standard “coffee house” look.

Archondo also praised the Reston and Sterling communities for their kindness in welcoming a new small business into town. Sweet Signatures is a family-run business — Archondo has received plenty of support through the years from her mother, father, aunt and others — and she said she noticed right away just how welcoming the local community can be.

“One thing that I’ve learned is that Sterling is a very tight knit community and very supportive of family businesses. I don’t think there are other communities like Sterling in that they are so willing to help,” she said.

Now open for business, Sweet Signatures maintains the following hours:

Monday-Thursday: 6:30 a.m. — 6:30 p.m.

Friday: 6:30 a.m. — 9 p.m.

Saturday: 7 a.m. — 6 p.m.

Sunday: 7 a.m. — 4 p.m.
