New Spa Opens in Reston at South Lakes Village Shopping Center

Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa has opened at Reston’s South Lakes Village Shopping Center, at 11160B South Lakes Dr.

The new franchise spa, which opened on Feb. 1, features a free rewards program; customers earn five points per dollar spent when they visit. The spa offers facials, massage and waxing services. The spa is offering introductory prices for a one-hour massage: $59.95; one-hour facial, $59.95; one-hour hot-stone massage for $79.95. (No word on whether these are the rates going forward or only “introductory.” You can upgrade your massage or facial with aromatherapy, a hot towel foot massage or a peppermint scalp massage for extra fees. The spa is open seven days a week; hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The company has locations nationwide and in Virginia, you’ll find Hand & Stone also in Chantilly, Haymarket and Kingstowne.

The brand begins 2015 with more than 200 spa locations and has plans to open 65 new spas over the course of the year, according to a news release from the company. Hand & Stone is projected to reach $188-million in system wide sales for the year, up from $125 million in 2014, fueled by strong comparable store sales and new unit growth.

“Before Hand & Stone made inroads into offering spa services to the middle market, many people perceived services like ours as an indulgence,” Todd Leff, president and CEO, said. “Now that we can offer the same therapeutic services that customers received at day spas, at a far lower cost and more conveniently people can see that adding a regular massage or facial has a real benefit to their health and everyday sense of well-being.”

For price comparison, a 50-minute hot stone massage at the Red Door Spa in Reston is $140 compared to the 60-minute hot stone massage at Hand & Stone, which lists its introductory price as $79.95.

Hand & Stone’s Founder and Chief Operating Officer John Marco launched the brand in 2004 with a mission to bring massage therapy and quality facial services to the masses, affordably and conveniently. Technology innovation and a high-quality guest experience are projected to continue the brands growth in 2015.
