Man Suspected in Two Deaths Possibly Fled to D.C. Area
Billy Jo McLean, 54, charged with murder in the deaths of his wife and stepdaughter. He may have also kidnapped his stepson.

A native of Sanford, N.C., charged in the deaths of his wife and stepdaughter may have fled to the Washington, D.C., area, according to multiple media reports including ABC News 11 in North Carolina and the Associated Press.
Billy Jo McLean, 54, of Sanford, is said to have possibly fled to the area, although his exact whereabouts — be they in the district, or in Maryland or Virginia — remain unknown.
A criminal complaint claims McLean may have kidnapped his 17-year-old stepson, Tobias, who may still be in his custody. Police did not comment on the boy’s location and did not issue an Amber Alert, according to WRAL.

McLean was charged in the deaths of his wife Calandra and his 13-year-old stepdaughter TaShonna. Authorities found their bodies in an apartment when a neighbor reported the strong scent of gasoline on the premises, according to The Washington Post.
McLean was formally charged with two counts of 1st-degree murder.
