NoVa Snow Alert: Winter Weather Likelihood Increasing Saturday
But be warned: forecasters say there is an equal possibility that it's just going to be another rainstorm, or perhaps nothing at all.

Could we finally get some decent snow in the D.C. and Northern Virginia area this weekend? It's possible -- even though some local forecasters warn not to bet on it.
But there is a cold front headed in our direction on Friday, producing a wave of low pressure that will roll through the Mid-Atlantic on Saturday and into Sunday.
That means Saturday afternoon and into the evening, some snow could develop along the I-95 corridor from D.C. up into New England, according to The Weather Channel.

The problem is that this is a quick-moving storm, so it won't drop as much snow as if it were slowly moving through the area. However, the I-95 corridor could get between 1 inch to 6 inches. The totals are very, very uncertain right now -- and we could certainly get nothing, as it appears the theme has been for the D.C. area this winter.
The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang says there is a possibility of snow on Saturday. But they're skeptical.

"On Saturday, things get interesting. The front will stall to our south, and low pressure is forecast to form along the front, drawing up moisture from the south while cold air pours in from north," they write. "The questions are how much moisture and how much cold air will ultimately converge over the D.C. area."
A snowstorm is just one of several possibilities. The others are a rainstorm if temperatures are too high, or nothing at all regardless of the temperature if we don't get enough moisture.
"Ultimately, the amount of moisture and cold air will depend on the track of the low pressure center that forms, and this is where forecast models are all over the map," CWG says.
In the last 24 hours, there has been an increasing likelihood of winter weather on Saturday, but there is still a "lot of uncertainty," they add.
