NV Rides Seeks Volunteer Drivers for Seniors in Reston
The program, which began last spring, provides free rides to residents ages 55 and older who are no longer capable of driving themselves.

NV Rides, a free transportation service for Northern Virginia residents ages 55 and older, is still looking for volunteer drivers for the Reston area.
The program partnered with the Reston Community Center to launch the service in town last year. NV Rides also has partners in McLean, Herndon, Annandale and Mount Vernon.
NV Rides’ volunteer drivers provide seniors no longer comfortable or capable behind the wheel with door-to-door rides for essential needs like medical appointments, grocery shopping, personal care, banking and more.

The Reston program serves residents in the Small Tax District 5 boundaries of Reston. Volunteers self-select ride requests, meaning, for example, they can avoid trips covering more than a certain number of miles or that will occupy a certain window of time. Drivers can also choose their own work hours.
To volunteer, visit NV Rides on the Reston Community Center’s website to download the application. The program will pay for a DMV and background check.
