Paid Parking at Reston Town Center to Go Live Jan. 3
ParkRTC is just weeks away from being activated.

RESTON, VA — The relaunch of the ParkRTC app and the paid parking that will go with it is now set for Jan. 3, Reston Town Center announced on Wednesday.
Paid parking at Reston Town Center was originally scheduled to start Sept. 12, but Boston Properties, the company that manages Reston Town Center, opted to delay the launch until January. The initial announcement earlier this year led to public backlash from Reston residents who had privacy concerns about the ParkRTC app and were unhappy about having to pay for parking.
"Beginning on January 3, Reston Town Center employees, guests and patrons will be able to park more quickly using state-of-the-art wayfinding and parking guidance systems, pay for parking from the comfort of their own vehicles, extend parking time without having to run to an expiring meter, view and print receipts online and take advantage of discounts and validations from participating retailers and businesses," according to the statement put out by Boston Properties representative Fallston Group.

The ParkRTC app is available for download in the iPhone App Store or Google Play. It is the main method Reston Town Center is hoping visitors will use to pay for parking, although it will also be possible to pay online or on site.
The statement notes that more than 21,000 people have downloaded the ParkRTC app. Reston Town Center will have a drawing on Feb. 1 to award a $500 Reston Town Center gift card to a random person who downloaded the app.
