Parents of 6th-12th graders!

Ease the pressure of college sooner rather than later.

The college admissions process is undergoing drastic changes, please join us to learn about the important changes and decisions that will affect your children in FCPS schools and schools across the nation.
Experts advise starting college conversations early, discovering passions and interests in order to reduce the intense pressure of the college admissions process. Speakers will be discussing ways that FCPS and parents can help ensure productive students with terrific college and job prospects.

Speaker Bios:

School Board Member Elizabeth Schultz

Leading community and taxpayer advocate. B.S. Political Science and History, James Madison University. Former Executive Board member on the Fairfax Education Coalition and Founding President of the Republican Women of Clifton. Former Senior Manager of Contracts and Negotiation professional in the federal, nonprofit and private sectors for EG&G - US Customs, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and US Secret Service - the Academy for Educational Development (USAID), SAIC, Software AG and Orbital Systems (ORBCOMM) in the areas of asset management, information technology and global education, entrepreneur and small business owner/consultant, and Southwestern Youth Association (SYA) Executive Board for Lacrosse. Mother of four sons, three of whom are currently FCPS students. Board service January 2012 to present.

Alan Katzman

Alan Katzman is a business and legal executive entrepreneur with a background in technology and software, compliance, human resources and investigations. Katzman is a trusted source of information on how students can use social media to optimize their success in college and career arenas. Katzman has lectured students, schools and parents across the globe about the importance of a positive social media presence and their digital footprint Alan is an expert in digital citizenship efforts and a member of the Advisory Board of The Social Network Channel. Alan’s mission is to educate students on how to use social media authentically within the college admissions process, the graduate school admissions process and the job market.

Julia Ross

Ms. Ross founded Professional Tutoring, LLC, in 1994. Since then she has worked with about 2000 students. She supports over 100 students per week in tutoring, SAT Preparation, and College Coaching. She is respected by parents and loved by her “kids”. The school systems know and respect Ms. Ross in her various capacities. Ms. Ross served as the Secondary School Education Representative to the PTSA Board of Robinson Secondary School, the second largest school in the United States. She developed an SAT Preparation Curriculum which put the big test preparation companies to shame. Professional Tutoring students average improvements of over 400 points! Ms. Ross is dedicated to helping students succeed in the college admissions journey, working with students to improve their grades, preparing them for the SAT, guiding them through the application process, and helping them choose the right college!
