Police are searching for the driver of a black Nissan Altima or similar vehicle, who may have witnessed the incident.

RESTON, VA — A pedestrian has been killed in a hit-and-run crash in Reston.

The incident happened at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Village Road at around 5:15 p.m. on Sunday as the pedestrian was crossing in the road, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect. The pedestrian, 76-year-old Hung Soon Seo, was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 11:30 p.m.

Seo was not in a crosswalk at the time. Fairfax County Police initially said they believed Seo was struck by a newer model black Nissan Altima or similar vehicle with tinted windows and silver trim on the front, but in an update posted on their website, they now say the car may have actually been a witness to the incident and not the car that struck Seo. They urged the driver of the car to come forward to give their version of what happened.

"The striking vehicle did not stop and fled the scene," the report states. "This is a four way intersection, controlled by stop signs."
