Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Reston: Police
Police say the woman was trying to cross Reston Parkway when she was hit by a Jeep Wrangler.
RESTON, VA — A 57-year-old woman has died after being struck while crossing Reston Parkway Thursday evening.
Police responded to the intersection of Reston Parkway and South Lakes Drive at around 6:20 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian that had been struck, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.
Police say the woman, who was not in a crosswalk, was trying to cross Reston Parkway when she was struck by a 2016 Jeep Wrangler traveling southbound.

The 30-year-old driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and was treated for minor injuries. Police identified the pedestrian as Asress Gobena Lakew of Reston.
Police do not think speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash, but the investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash to call 703-280-0543 for visit FairfaxCrimeSolvers.org.
