Police Catch Reston Raccoon Red-Handed [PHOTO]

A masked bandit was caught in a Reston resident's backyard, but got off scot-free.

RESTON, VA — A raccoon in Reston will not face criminal charges despite being caught red-handed robbing a local resident's bird feeder Thursday afternoon.

Fairfax County Police posted a picture of the masked burglar stuck in the bird feeder apparatus, noting that despite its crimes, it was released on his own recognizance.

"BUSTED: Animal Protection Police officers caught and saved this masked bird feeder bandit in the act; no harm, no fowl!" police wrote on Twitter.

There was no immediate indication on whether the raccoon had a prior record, or whether it would retain legal counsel.
