Police Seize Family Heirlooms From Reston Home: Report

RESTON, VA -- Police officers armed with a search warrant carried family heirlooms out of a Reston house recently, and it was all because of a TV interview, according to a report.

WJLA reports that they had interviewed a woman about guardianship court disputes involving her elderly father, and a viewer noticed some heirloom teapots and vases that she believed belonged to her. So she told a Fairfax County Police detective, who obtained a search warrant.

The woman who was interviewed, Liz Skarlatos, told WJLA that she had just gotten out of the shower and was "dripping wet" when police came and informed her they had a search warrant. They then spent the next five hours carrying out family heirlooms.

The heirlooms reportedly are still being held by the police, but no charges have been filed. The family criticized the police for getting involved.

Skarlatos told WJLA it was the "most horrifying experience of my life."
