RESTON, VA —Reston Citizens Association honored Larry Butler for his 40 years of service to the community as an employee of the Reston Association.
“Larry Butler has diligently and unselfishly served the Reston community and its citizens as part of the Reston Association," said RCA President Lynne Mulston, in a statement. "The Board of Directors of the Reston Citizens Association unanimously recognized and honored Larry Butler for his service to the members of the Reston Association, the Reston Community, and its citizens."

"It has been a great run at RA," Butler said, in January. "I have appreciated the organization’s support over the many years, and I have many lasting memories. Most memorable for me are the life-long friends I have made with the staff and many in the community with whom I have worked. For the next chapter of my life, I look forward to many adventures including hiking, biking, fishing and spending more time with my family and friends — preferably in the woods somewhere.”
Also during the ceremony, RCA formally welcomed RA CEO Mac Cummins and his wife Wendy to the Reston community. RA's Board of Directors hired Cummins in July 2022 to run the day-to-day operations of the association.
Prior to Cummins' hiring, Butler filled in as RA's interim CEO, following the departure of former CEO Harry P. "Hank" Lynch in August 2021.
“The impact Larry has made on many Reston families’ lives, and the community in general, is profound," Cummins said, in January. “He has served in nearly every capacity in our organization and has led our operations and various services in leadership capacities throughout his career here. The community owes him much, and the staff is blessed to have had a chance to work with him. He has truly made a difference in Reston and helped lead many important initiatives. I’d like to thank Larry for his service and contribution to building community in Reston.”
Peter Lusk, who brings 14 years of experience in facility operations at a national law firm, started as RA's new COO on July 10.
In Arlington County, Lusk served in several community engagement efforts, acting as the staff liaison to a number of committees, commissions, and working groups associated with park facilities, renovations, and user fees, according to RA.
