RCC Hires Maggie Parker To Oversee Offsite Events, Collaboration Units
Former Partnership Reston executive director will manage RCC's Community Events and Outreach and Collaboration units.

RESTON, VA — Reston Community Center has hired former Partnership Reston Executive Director Maggie Parker as its director of offsite and collaborative programs, according to a release.
In her new role, Parker will oversee RCC's offsite programming, such as its summer concert series and events at Reston Opportunity Neighborhood sites.
“We are combining our Community Events and Outreach and Collaboration units and adding capacity to the new department to help keep pace with the growth in our services,” RCC Executive Director Leila Gordon said, in a release. “We are thrilled to bring Maggie aboard to shepherd the planning and execution of a growing array of offerings for Reston neighborhoods.”

In April, RCC announced that it was moving its Thursday night summer concert series from Lake Anne Plaza to Reston Station. This year's Multicultural Festival, which had also called Lake Anne Plaza its home for years, will take place Sept. 17 at Reston Town Center Park.
In addition to her work with Partnership Reston, Parker served for more than 10 years in a variety of roles, including public relations and strategic communications, for Comstock Companies, the developer behind Reston Station. She had previously overseen community event production at Myers Public Relations.

In 2019, Parker ran in the Democratic Primary for the Hunter Mill District seat on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, losing to fellow Democrat Walter Alcorn.
“Working with the outstanding staff at RCC to deliver its fabulous programming throughout Reston will be exciting and fulfilling for me,” Parker said. “Reston Community Center’s mission reflects one of the founding precepts of the Reston vision – namely, to provide a variety of leisure opportunities, including a wide range of cultural and recreational facilities. This department will continue moving RCC beyond its brick-and-mortar homes to build community for everyone, everywhere in Reston.”
Parker's first day in her new job will be Aug. 29.
