Reminder: Major Traffic Detours in Reston, Herndon This Weekend
Work on the Silver Line's future Herndon and Reston Town Center Metro stations will result in detours this weekend.

RESTON, VA — Construction on the new Herndon and Reston Town Center Metro rail stations will result in traffic being dumped onto the Dulles Toll Road this weekend, so be prepared if you're planning on commuting in the area during that time.
Construction will detour eastbound traffic on the Dulles International Airport Access Highway onto the eastbound Dulles Toll Road between the Centreville Road bridge and the Reston Parkway overpass starting Saturday, March 18 beginning at 9 p.m. and continuing through Sunday, March 19 at 5 a.m.

"The detours will allow Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews to set several large precast concrete elements at the Silver Line's future Herndon and Reston Town Center Metrorail stations in the median of the Airport Access Highway," the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project said in a statement.
The specifics of the detours are as follows:

- Eastbound DIAAH traffic to the Fairfax County Parkway and Reston Parkway will be diverted to the Dulles Toll Road at mile marker 1.8 . Signage will be in place to direct drivers..
- Eastbound DIAAH traffic between mile markers 2.7 and 4.9 will be diverted to the left lane of the eastbound Dulles Toll Road (DTR).
- Eastbound DTR traffic will be restricted to the two right lanes.
- Eastbound DIAAH traffic will return to the DIAAH at mile marker 4.9, just prior to the Reston Parkway overpass and all lanes will be restored for eastbound DTR use.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to signage, adjusted speed limits, and large, slow-moving vehicles exiting and entering the highway.
