Reston Association Halts 2 Facility Renovations as Lake House Review Moves Forward
The association has had to make adjustments after renovation costs on the Lake House went $430,000 over budget.

The Reston Association has put renovations on hold for its Central Services Facility and Pony Barn Project while a review of the over-budget Lake House renovations is completed.
An independent review committee will be examining how the Lake House resulted in cost overruns, leading the Reston Association to make adjustments and implement cost-saving measures to make up for the difference. The Lake House renovations have been completed and the facility is currently taking reservations, according to Mike Leone, director of communications and community engagement for the association.
"This new Reston Community facility is now open for Summer Camp programs and community rentals," Leone said. "It officially opened last week. What has been put on-hold is RA’s Central Services Facility (CSF) and Pony Barn Project until the Lake House review is completed."

RA members voted to acquire the Lake House property at 11450 Baron Cameron Avenue back in the spring of 2015. The 3.476-acre waterfront property needed reservations, and the association ultimately paid $2.65 million for the property. However, the renovations ended up costing more than the $259,000 budgeted for that project by about $430,000.
Reston's Central Services Facility houses equipment and heavy machinery used to maintain properties managed by Reston Association staff.

The Pony Barn Project would involve improving the pavilion area at the Pony Barn with play areas, picnic tables and barbecue grills, as well as new fencing and landscaping.
