Reston Association Pushes Forward On Hook Road Project

RA is asking for feedback from the community via an online survey and a series of community meetings.

RESTON, VA — The Reston Association is hosting three community engagement meetings in the coming weeks and has launched an online survey to get some feedback on the Hook Road Recreation Area Master Planning Project.

All meetings will be held at the Lake House at 11450 Baron Cameron Avenue. The first was held Oct. 4, the second will be held Monday, Oct. 16 from 7-8:30 p.m., and the final one will be Thursday, Nov. 2 from 7-8:30 p.m.

Members can also offer feedback on the Hook Road project by taking an online survey, RA said in a statement, noting that the purpose of the survey is to better evaluate the recreation area and to identify potential areas for improvement.

"The Hook Road Recreation Area was originally developed in 1965 with additions of tennis and basketball amenities in 1973. Since that time, the recreation area has remained relatively unchanged," RA says on its website. "In 2016, the RA board approved a new capital project methodology called 'Full Facility Enhancements' or 'Full Facility Projects.' This methodology focuses on revitalization of facilities as a singular unit instead of replacement of individual amenities. The prior methodology looked at facilities on an amenity by amenity basis spread out over several years. The goal is to improve RA facilities in a complete manner and create a greater impact to the membership."
