Reston Association Unanimously Opposes St. Johns Wood Redevelopment Project
The application now goes before the Reston Planning & Zoning Committee next month.

RESTON, VA — Reston Association's Board of Directors has voted to oppose the redevelopment application for a St. John's Wood project that many residents worry will lead to big problems with traffic, parking and a host of other issues.
The application will now go to the Reston Planning & Zoning Committee on Oct. 17, and then go before the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 26, according to a Reston Association statement.
"Residents, particularly in the North Point District, believe the redevelopment of the residential apartments does not conform to existing standards in the area," the statement reads, which notes that the motion to oppose the project was approved unanimously.

The Reston Association listed the following reasons for opposing the application:
- Environmental impacts including but not limited to such impacts on RA common area and natural areas.
- Transportation impacts and parking/overflow.
- Density and intensity of redevelopment proposal.
- Mitigation of impacts to RA community amenities/facilities.
- Impacts to county schools.
Developer Bozzuto had proposed a major redevelopment project that would involve expanding the 14.3-acre property with three mid-rise residential buildings containing 625 multi-family units and 34 single-family attached units. Bozzuto later scaled those plans back, but residents still didn't feel like the developer had done enough to address their concerns.
