Reston Community Players: Ready for Their Closeup

If you didn’t get a chance to see the Reston Community Players opening last weekend of their latest production, “Sunset Boulevard,” you still have time to catch what DCMetro Theaterarts is calling “really big and not to be missed.”

Performances continue for three more weekends at CenterStage at the Reston Community Center, 2310 Colts Neck Road in Reston.

“Sunset Boulevard” is about silent movie star Nora Desmond (before there were ”talkies”) and her struggles off the big screen. With the help and inspiration of a struggling screenwriter, Joe Gillis, she sets down a path to remind Hollywood and the world that she is still big– “it’s the pictures that got small.” Winner of seven Tony Awards, “Sunset Boulevard” combines the classic movie feel with what TIME magazine calls “Lloyd Webber’s most artfully constructed score.”

The Reston Community Players production is directed by Mark Hidalgo, with music direction by Elisa Rosman; it is produced by Jennifer Lambert.

Performances are scheduled for the following dates: Friday, March 6, Saturday, March 7, Sunday, March 8*, Friday, March 13, Saturday, March 14, Sunday, March 15*, Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21. Performances are at 8 p.m.
