Reston Concerts On The Town 2018 Summer Season Announced

From Reston Town Centers: Reston Concerts on the Town, the weekly summer concert series at Reston Town Center, in its 28th season, has announced its 2018 lineup. Featuring talented local and national acts, these family-friendly concerts are free and take place every Saturday night from June 2 through August 25, from 7:30 pm – 10 pm, rain or shine.

These free concerts are made possible by a grant from the Reston Town Center Association, with support from Boston Properties, the owner of Reston Town Center. As is the tradition for this concert series, this year’s stellar lineup includes a wide range of musical styles including Motown, swing, blues, jazz, Latin fusion, Celtic, bluegrass and zydeco.

Highlights include returning favorites:
 Leonard, Coleman & Blunt—The former lead singers of The Temptations, The Platters &The Drifters and their big band will take you on a musical journey of your favorite Motown and doo-wop hits. They’ll kick off the series on June 2.
 Scythian – These raucous roots-rockers blend Celtic and klezmer for a high-energy, dynamic show. Come see these world-class fiddlers rock Reston on July 14.
 Local jazz favorite Chuck Redd returns on June 23 with very special guests: jazz harmonica virtuoso Hendrik Muerkens, renowned trumpeter/vocalist Byron Stripling (played Satchmo on national tour) and bassist/vocalist Nicki Parrott
 Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band—This Louisiana-based Grammy-winning zydeco band will shake things up on August 4.
 Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.—This 2011 winner of America’s Got Talent, went from car washer to jazz superstar. Back by popular demand, Landau and his big band close out the series on August 25.

What’s new?
 Blues Beatles
A blues band based in Brazil started playing Beatles songs during rehearsal breaks and soon all of this bluesy jamming turned into a new band. Blues Beatles puts a swing-jump blues twist on classic Beatles tunes. When they come to Reston on June 9, come ready to Twist & Shout.
 Good Shot Judy
Swing it, baby! Good Shot Judy delivers top-notch swing and jazz, covering the classics from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Count Basie and Billie Holiday to modern artists such as Harry Connick, Jr., Michael Buble and Jamie Cullum, as well as high-energy Latin Dance big band. Good Shot Judy will keep you lindy-hopping across the dance floor all night on July 7.
 T Sisters
The T Sisters embody harmony. From Oakland, California, these three sisters— Erika, Rachel and Chloe—have been singing and writing music together since childhood. They bring with them a talented acoustic band. Their sound incorporates traditional and pop influences, moments of breathtaking a cappella to swells of energetic indie Americana. Don’t miss them at Reston on August 18.
 U.S. Navy Sea Chanters
Reston Concerts on the Town is proud to welcome the Navy Band Sea Chanters - the U.S. Navy’s official chorus – on August 11. The ensemble performs a variety of music. For this show, one set will feature songs from the Broadway musical Jersey Boys (the songs of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons), and another set will feature Motown hits.
