RESTON, VA — Reston Farmers Market will be part of National Farmers Market Week, which runs from Aug. 7 to 13.

Since the Reston Farmers Market runs on Saturdays, the National Farmers Market Week activities will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13. Plans will include a cooking Demonstration by Virginia Cooperative Extension, bike safety with Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling, a quiz wheel and prizes, and other educational activities for families.

National Farmers Market Week celebrates the contributions of farmers markets in communities and support for local farmers. The Fairfax County Park Authority runs 10 seasonal farmers markets in Fairfax County. Vendors come from a 125-mile radius of Fairfax County and may only sell what they raise on farms or make from scratch.

The Reston Farmers Market is located in the parking lot of Lake Anne Village Center, 1609-A Washington Plaza in Reston. It is held Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. from April 20 to Dec. 3.

Other National Farmers Market Week activities will take place at the Lorton Farmers Market on Aug. 7, Oak Marr, McCutcheon/Mount Vernon and Wakefield Farmers Markets on Aug. 10, Annandale and Herndon Farmers Markets on Aug. 11, McLean and Kingstowne Farmers Markets on Aug. 12, and Burke Farmers Market on Aug. 13.
