RESTON, VA -- Tuesday, Jan. 28 was moving day for firefighters at Station 25 in Reston. Station personnel packed up their gear and moved to a temporary facility located nearby at 1840 Cameron Glen Drive.

"The existing station on Wiehle Avenue will be demolished," said Laurie Stone, a Fairfax County planning section manager in an email. "A larger two-level fire station with four drive-through apparatus bays will be constructed on the same site. The estimated occupancy is Summer 2021."

Fairfax County voters approved funding for the new Reston Fire Station in the 2015 Public Safety Bond Referendum. The $13 million bond referendum covered the cost of design and construction of both the new fire station and the temporary fire station.

According to Stone, the move to the temporarily facility will have no impact on the Reston station's ability to serve the community.

"The Reston station personnel and apparatus have been relocated to the temporary facility to maintain continuous emergency response to the community," she said.
