Reston Man Dies in Single-Car Crash in Newport News
Charles Carroll Roder III was driving westbound on I-64 early Wednesday morning when his car ran off the highway and struck a tree.

A Reston resident died Wednesday from injuries sustained in a single-car crash in Newport News, the Daily Press first reported.
Charles Carroll Roder III, 42, of 11500 Rolling Green Court, was driving westbound on I-64 just before 4 a.m. Wednesday when his 2004 Volvo S60 ran off the road and struck a tree, the Daily Press reported, citing a press release from Virginia State Police.
Roder was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News with major injuries, and later died from those injuries in the hospital.

Police told the Daily Press that Roder was indeed wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and determined alcohol did not play a role in the accident.
