Reston Man Elected to U.S. Bowling Congress

Adam Mitchell finished second in voting in Las Vegas this week, good enough to earn him one of three spots on the USBC.

RESTON, VA — A Reston resident has been elected to the United States Bowling Congress at the 2017 USBC Convention and Annual Meeting in Las Vegas this week.

Four candidates ran for the three open spots on the USBC Board, with Adam Mitchell of Reston competing with Jo Dimond of Ohio, Karl Kielich of Texas, and Glenda Beckett of Florida. Mitchell finished second in the voting, receiving 567 to Kielich's 617 and Dimond's 562. Beckett was not elected to a seat after securing 490 votes.

Reston resident Adam Mitchell, a board member for the Nation's Capital Area USBC since 2014, has been bowling since he was 10 years old. His day job is as president and chief executive officer of Global Solutions Inc., a company he founded in 2013.

"I feel I am qualified to serve on the USBC Board of Directors because I will be able to help continue to promote the sport of bowling at multiple levels," Mitchell states on the USBC website. "I would utilize my business background to continue to push forward strategic initiatives, professional relationships to expand recognition of the sport, and interpersonal skills to work with different teams, where I can continue to bring value to the sport."
