Reston Man Gets 29-Year Sentence for Rape of Minor
In 2013, Julio Saravia engaged in sexual intercourse with a minor child on several occasions, the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said.

A Reston man has been sentenced to 29 years in prison for the rape of a minor, according to a news release from the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in Leesburg.

Julio C. Saravia, 33, recently appeared before the Circuit Court of Loudoun County, in custody, for sentencing on one count of rape, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. Judge Thomas D. Horne sentenced Saravia to 29 years in the Virginia Department of Corrections, the news release said. Additionally, Horne imposed a three-year period of post-release supervision.
Between February 2013 and August 2013, Saravia engaged in sexual intercourse with a minor child on several occasions, according to the news release. In the early fall of 2013 the victim disclosed to a family member that Saravia had sex with her, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said. The family member contacted law enforcement, who subsequently interviewed Saravia. In a recorded interview, Saravia admitted to having sex with the victim on multiple occasions, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

Saravia pleaded guilty Nov. 24, 2014, to one count of rape, according to the news release.
In addition to the total active sentence of 29 years, Horne further ordered that Saravia be placed on supervised probation for life, and have no unsupervised contact with minors.
Pursuant to Virginia’s Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry Act, Saravia will also be required to register as a sex offender. Saravia is scheduled to be sentenced on June 19 in Fairfax County Circuit Court for five counts of rape by force. Saravia faces a term of life in prison for each count.
Saravia, a native of El Salvador, may be subject to a Federal Immigration Detainer, which would direct his removal from the United States upon his release.
