Reston Man Gets 30 Years For Sexually Abusing Boy: Report
A Reston man got a three-decade sentence for meeting the boy online and driving to Maryland to have sex with him.

RESTON, VA -- A Reston man will spend the next 30 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old boy he met online, according to a report.
WTOP reports that Joseph Coffinberger pleaded guilty to two counts of sexually abusing a minor at the Howard County Circuit Court in Ellicott City, Md. on Friday, and the judge sentenced him to 30 years in prison.
Coffinberger met the boy online when he was 12 in 2017, and started driving to Ellicott City to have sex with him. The boy told his mother he was in a sexual relationship with an older man back in May, and that they would meet at motels or in his car, according to the report.

The mother told police, and detectives posed as the boy in making contact with Coffinberger to gather evidence against him.
The boy said in court, "last night I finally realized I was going to be OK … I’ve waited so long to start healing and I am going to start today," WTOP reported.
