Reston Man Sentenced For Threatening Trump, Officials Online
Valeriy Kouznetsov, 41, posted multiple threats on X against President Donald Trump, his family, and other government officials.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — A Reston man was sentenced Wednesday to two years and four months in prison for sending online threats to kill President Donald Trump.
Valeriy Kouznetsov, 41, made multiple threats toward the president of the United States, his family, and other government officials, according to court documents.
These threats were posted the threats to the X account of Trump and other officials, according to court documents. In a March 28, 2025 message, Kouznetsov threatened the president with a “7/13 secret service repeat Philadelphia,” referencing the attempted presidential assassination on July 13, 2024.

Further threats were made by Kouznetsov on April 17, 2025, when he said, “you are a hopeless and helpless American (expletive) I will murder all of you filthy rats.” Two days later, he publicly posted, “I murder all of you including (the President).”
Kouznetsov has a history of threatening Trump's life. In July 2020, he approached the Trump International Hotel in Washington and attempted to enter the facility, according to court documents. During this incident, Kouznetsov threatened to harm hotel employees and stab the president. He was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to two years and three months in prison for threatening to kill or injure the president, followed by a three-year term of supervised release.

Kouznetsov's supervised release was later revoked on April 5, 2023, after he entered the area around the White House. He was subsequently sentenced to an additional year and a day in prison, according to court records.
