RESTON, VA — A Reston man reportedly is going to prison for a year after he stole $150,000 from a Stafford County company.
The Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star reports that Michael Patrick Ziegler, 49, of Reston was convicted in April of seven charges, including forgery and obtaining money by false pretenses.
Ziegler served as vice president for Garrett Development Co., and the company owner said he hired Ziegler because he knew his father, according to the report.

Ziegler is accused of diverting company funds to a shell company based in Miami between April 2014 and sometime last year. Ziegler even reportedly had the owner sign some of the invoices.
The owner became suspicious after getting a bill from an architect that was far higher than he expected. The architect said that he was told by Ziegler that the excess money was to go to JMN Consulting, the shell company.
