Reston Man Wins $255,401 Virginia Cash 5 Jackpot, Eyes Retirement

A Reston man said the March 26 Virginia Lottery win could help as he gets closer to retirement.

RESTON, VA — A Reston man is a step closer to retirement after winning a $255,401 Cash 5 with EZ Match jackpot in the March 26 Virginia Lottery drawing.

Taesuk You bought the winning ticket at Safeway, 11120 South Lakes Drive in Reston, according to the Virginia Lottery release. The winning numbers were 4-10-25-28-40.

You told Virginia Lottery officials he is a regular player and studies numbers, which is how he chose the numbers on his ticket. The Reston man also told lottery officials he is nearing retirement but still went to work the day after learning about the win. He said he is excited and has many thoughts about how the jackpot will help with retirement.

Cash 5 with EZ Match features a rolling jackpot that starts at a minimum of $200,000, according to the Virginia Lottery. The odds of matching all five numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 1,221,759.

The Virginia Lottery said players can buy tickets for games including Powerball, Mega Millions, Millionaire for Life, Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 5 and Cash 5 with EZ Match online. Players must be at least 18 and physically located in Virginia to play online, according to the release.

The lottery said all of its profits go to K-12 education in Virginia. In Fairfax County, that amounted to more than $56 million in lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year, according to the release. Statewide, the Virginia Lottery reported it raised more than $901 million for K-12 education in fiscal year 2025, or about 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
