Reston Officer Charged In Death Of 6-Month-Old: Police
Officer Jason Colley faces multiple charges in the death of a child nearly a year ago.

A Fairfax County Police officer who worked out of the Reston District Station has been arrested in connection with the death of an infant in Maryland nearly a year ago.
Police did not give any details about how the child died or what connection the child had to Officer Jason Colley, who was arrested by Maryland State Police and charged with Child Abuse in the First Degree Resulting in Death, Child Abuse in the First Degree Resulting in Severe Physical Injury, and Felony Assault in the First Degree, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.
The baby died Oct. 31, 2017, and MSP investigators began to suspect Colley after an investigation. Colley, 38, resides in Monrovia, Md.

Colley, 10-year veteran of the force, turned himself in Tuesday morning, police say. He had been relieved of duty and all law enforcement authority all the way back on April 23, three days after MSP notified Fairfax County Police that Colley was the suspect. He had been on paid administrative leave since then.
"The charges Colley faces are abhorrent," Fairfax County Police Chief Edwin Roessler Jr. said in a statement. "This afternoon I served Colley notice of separation from employment in accordance with Fairfax County Personnel Regulations and the Code of Virginia."
