Reston Pride Festival Brings LGBTQ Groups, Drag Performances To Lake Anne Plaza

Reston Pride festival is a chance to celebrate and support the local LGBTQ community and enjoy food, artwork, music and drag performances.

RESTON, VA — Reston Pride festival is coming to Lake Anne Plaza on Saturday, June 4, from 12-6 p.m., offering musical performances, food, and opportunities to learn more about and support local LGBTQ organizations.

The day will start at 12 noon, when the Reston Pride Board of Directors welcomes visitors during the opening ceremony. This will include remarks by Del. Ken Plum (D-36th District), State Sen. Janet Howell (D-32nd District) and Hunter Mill District Supervisor Walter Alcorn.

Rev. Michelle Nickens of Washington Plaza Baptist Church; Rev. Daniel Park of Restoration Church; and Rev. Emma Chattin of Metropolitan Community Church of Northern Virginia will then lead a conversation on the affirmation of Pride and Faith.

"Like our previous festivals, we'll have a lot of vendors at Lake Anne Plaza," Reston Pride President Kyle Rohen said, during a Facebook Live interview on Friday. "It will be a whole host of different types of vendors. ... We will have other LGBTQ organizations that will be there."

This year the festival will include an artist's alley, where local artists will be able to show and sell their work.

The festival will feature a full slate of performers, including a spoken word performance by Filipino-American Queer Poet Regie Cabico; DJ Performances by C Squared Entertainment, and drag performances by Frieda Poussay, India Larelle Houston, Xavier Bottoms, Muffy Blake Stephyns and Ophelia Bottoms.

The Kinsey Sicks, a drag barbershop quartet from San Francisco, will be Reston Pride's headliner. Once the group wraps its 5 p.m. performance at Lake Anne, they'll head over to CenterStage at the Reston Community Center-Hunters Woods for an 8 p.m. show. Tickets for the group's CenterStage appearance are available for purchase online.

Admission to Reston Pride 2022 is free, although donations are accepted. There are also opportunities for people to volunteer, sponsor, or to become an exhibitor or vendor. Learn more on the Reston Pride website.
