Reston Students Earn Accolades At Their Colleges, Universities

RESTON, VA — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Reston area, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.

Natalie McCrea of Reston was named to the summer 2022 president's list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the president's list.

Lauren MacDonald of Reston graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in media arts and design from James Madison University during commencement exercises in August 2022.

Alexander R Moran of Reston was one of the more than 8,900 students who were named to the spring 2022 dean's list at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.

Jesse Davis of Reston received a bachelor of arts from Berea College conferred on Aug. 15 in Berea, Kentucky.

Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York conferred more than 4,300 degrees at all of its campuses in the 2021-2022 academic year:

• Bryan Lukehart-Yun of Reston received a BS in mechanical engineering.
• Preston Sulfstede of Reston received a BS in public policy.
• Anna Volpova of Reston received an MS in computing security.
• Joshua McFadden of Reston received a BS in computing security.
• Peter Stluka of Reston received a BS/ME in mechanical engineering.
• Arthur Tisseront of Reston received a BS in game design and development.

Charlotte Aucella of Reston has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at SUNY Purchase in Purchase, New York. To be eligible for the dean's list, students must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 for bachelor of arts and bachelor of science programs and 3.75 for bachelor of fine arts and bachelor of music performance programs. They must take a minimum of 12 credits.

Faizullah Khattak of Reston recently graduated from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont after the spring 2022 semester. Khattak was one of 587 students who completed their degree requirements and received their diploma at this time. Khattak completed a bachelor of science degree in cybersecurity.

Jered Smith of Reston was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Smith was initiated at National Intelligence University.

The following students were named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts:

• Matthew Guerber of Reston is majoring in theatre and is a member of the Class of 2025.
• Marine Savoure of Reston is majoring in media arts production and is a member of the Class of 2025.
• Katya Shakula of Reston is majoring in media arts production and is a member of the Class of 2024.

To make dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.

James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia recently welcomed the following students for the fall 2022 semester:
