Reston's Role in the 2015 World Police & Fire Games

Get free tickets to the opening ceremonies Friday at RFK.

Reston Association lend a hand Friday through July 5 at the 2015 World Police & Fire Games that will be held in Reston and throughout Fairfax County, according to a news release from RA.

The competition among rescue workers from around the world begins Friday, with opening ceremonies at RFK Stadium in Washington before the focus of the games returns to Reston and Fairfax County for the next two weeks.

RA’s Aquatics staffers will assist in the open-water swim and triathlon events. Reston’s Lake Audubon will be the competition site for swimmers on Sunday and Friday, July 3. Central Services Facility crews from RA will remove brush along association pathways for the half marathon on Sunday, July 5.

RA members are encouraged to support this community-wide event that honors public safety officials from around the world. Up-to-date information specific to Reston, such as road closures and other breaking news, will be made available on RA’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Reston Town Center will serve as the site of the Athletes Village. The location will be used for registration, games information, competitions and nightly entertainment.
