Reston's South Lakes High School Receives Top Honor

South Lakes High School is among four Fairfax County public schools to receive a top honor this week, according to Fairfax County Public Schools.

Reston’s South Lakes High has been recognized among group of 100 best high schools in the nation for personal finance instruction, FCPS announced this week.

Four Fairfax County public schools in all were recognized among a group of 100 best high schools in the nation for personal finance instruction: Chantilly High School, Madison High School and Mountain View Alternative High School also earned accolades.

The list of top 100 schools was compiled by Working in Support of Education (W!se), a New York-based nonprofit group that promotes financial literacy education.

Thirty-eight of the top 100 schools cited by W!se for excellence in personal finance instruction are in Virginia.

Virginia students—beginning with those who entered the ninth grade in 2011, must successfully complete a course in personal finance and economic literacy to earn an advanced studies or standard diploma.
