RSTA Swim Season starts with a SPLASH!

Reston pools were buzzing with excitement on Saturday June 11, 2016 when RSTA held its first meets for the summer swim season. Almost 900 swimmers competed while siblings, parents and grandparents cheered them on from the pool decks. League and team records fell during the 4 meets and started the season off with a splash!

New Records Set

A new league record was set in the boys’ 13-14 age 200 m medley relay by the Hunters Woods team of Liam Tolbert, Daniel Li, Philip Pan, and Albert Xu with a time of 2:10.24, besting a time set in 1988.

Team records set on Saturday include:

• Hailey Brown of Ridge Heights set two team records with a time of 33.25 in girls’ 9-10 50m Freestyle and a time of 39.26 in girls’ 50m Backstroke, besting records set in 2000.

• Casey Storch of Lake Newport set two team records with a time of 25.31 in boys’ 15-18 50m Freestyle, besting a record set that had stood since 1997, and a time of 28.44 in boys; 15-18 50m Freestyle, besting a record from 2002.

Glade Dolphins 571, Autumnwood Piranhas 493

For Glade, double event winners were Niki Chava, Rebecca Dodson, Brian Gibbons, Erin Irlan, Emily Landeryou, Jack Thomas, and Amanda Wagner. Triple event winners were Sam Joyner, Clara Landeryou, Sophia Landeryou, Madeline LaPorte, Patrick O'Malley, and Zachary Wiemer.

For Autumnwood, double event winners were Julia Cartwright, Andrew S Freeman, Olivia Heatherly, Anne Kennedy, Max McDermott, Evan G Melnick, Deep Murthy, Ann Shen, and Donovan Willson. Triple event winners were Anna Y Byrd, Blake Jackson, and Liam Willson.

Lake Audubon Barracudas 580, Ridge Heights Sharks 506

For Lake Audubon, double event winners were Max Daum, Blake DeHoust, Matthew Fritz, Shannon Gallagher, Ryan Ha, Suya Haering, John Hughes, Christopher Mathias, Julia Sofhia Nassau, Sophia Randall, Griffin Scanlan, and Sophie Strauss. Triple event winners were Kian Elliott, Emily Fritz, and Kaliyana Haering.

For Ridge Heights, double event winners were Ian Champney, Aidan Coughlin, Robert Deason, Taryn Dougherty, Kati Imel, Andrew Pierce, and Connor Pierce. Triple event winners were Kelsye Brown, Adrienne Crowe, Alex Russell, Paige Sogandares, and Hailey Wang.

Lake Newport Lightning 688, Hunters Woods Marlins 428

For Lake Newport, double event winners were Bridget Brennan, Cade Dowling, Caroline Kohn, William Kohn, Ingrid Larne, Mara Redican, Julia Wang, Connor Witt, and Anna Yerukhimovich. Triple event winner were Anna Redican, Emi Redican, Sean Redican, Casey Storch, Vania B Zeledon, and Michael Zhou.

For Hunters Woods, double event winners were Thomas Evans, Grace Meade, Evelyn Wagner, and Roger Zeng. Triple event winners were Katie Vintimilla and Albert Xu.

North Hills Hurricanes 615, Lake Anne Stingrays 440

For North Hills, double event winners were Michelle Boone, Corey Clark, Greyson Deker, Gabriel Huang, Ada Langston, Emily Ren, Joseph Sciortino, Samantha Sciortino, Fiona Shaw, James Xu, and Miles Yang. Triple event winners were Valerie Kovacs, Daniella Ramsey, and William Xu.

For Lake Anne, double event winners were Luke Bowen, Caroline Flood, Alexandros Hejmo, Saxon Joyner, Joseph Letteri, Emmalina Sjapeki, Nadinka Taylor, and Tommy Winfree. Triple event winners were Joseph Dealey, Emily Meilus, and Devin Truong.
