School Closing/Delay Update From Fairfax County Schools
More than two feet of snow still on some roadways Sunday made the decision easy regarding the school day on Monday and Tuesday.
Fairfax County Public Schools wasted no time alerting parents to a change in the schedule for Monday and Tuesday, as communities start the work of digging out from the 2016 blizzard.
Due to the historic snowfall, all Fairfax County Public Schools and offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday, January 25 and 26 (Condition 1). The following activities in schools and on school grounds are canceled:
- extracurricular activities
- interscholastic contests
- team practices
- field trips
- middle school after-school programs
- professional learning and training courses
- adult and community education classes
- recreation programs and community use by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS
School age child care (SACC) centers are closed.
Please note that due to the record amount of snowfall received, FCPS operations may be impacted for several days. Additional updates on FCPS’ operating status will be provided Tuesday, January 26, 2016.
