Superintendent Search Process Outlined To Fairfax School Board
After the school board contracted a recruitment firm, a public survey and focus group meetings will be coming up.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — With Superintendent Scott Brabrand's exit from Fairfax County Public Schools coming up at the end of the 2021-2022 school year, a timelines for the search process for the next superintendent was outlined to the school board Monday.
Brabrand previously announced he would leave FCPS at the end of the school year, prompting the school board to contract recruitment firm GR Recruiting to seek potential candidates to fill the position. A work session on the superintendent search process was held with the school board Monday, with GR Recruiting providing a presentation.
According to the suggested timeline presented by the school board, GR Recruiting is hosting FCPS staff stakeholder meetings from Dec. 14 to 16. These staff were preselected to represent all employee groups. Community stakeholder meetings, which include preselected parents, students and community members, will be held Jan. 10 to 12. Town hall meetings open to the public in all five FCPS regions in January will be announced at a later time. A survey is expected to be emailed to the FCPS community next week.

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis, as well as outreach to potential candidates. The suggested deadline for application materials is March 4, 2022.
The school board would then meet with the search firm in a closed session on March 17, interview candidates on March 21 and 22, and hold a second round of interviews if needed on March 28 to 29. The school board's discussion of contract terms with the candidate and a contract offer would happen on a date to be determined.
