Support Earth Day At This Event Offered by Assistance League of Northern Virginia and the Franklin Farm Social Committee

HAPPY EARTH DAY! Everyone is invited to the triple header event at Franklin Farm this Sunday, April 24, to help Assistance League of Northern Virginia help the hungry and help the planet.
The nonprofit’s semi-annual paper shredding event is scheduled from noon to 3 pm (or until the truck is full) at 13501 Franklin Farm Road, Herndon. No cardboard, plastic, aluminum, wood, or metal items can be shredded. A minimum donation of $10 is requested; cash or check preferred, credit cards accepted.
The organization will also collect gently used sneakers for its GotSneakers fund-raising campaign. Your donation of gently used sneakers will help raise funds for the charity’s programs that serve children and families in need, and will keep old sneakers out of landfills and help the environment. Please note, only SNEAKERS can be accepted. No cleats, Crocs, or flipflops.

Celebrate Earth Day in a special way by shredding your important papers and donating your athletic shoes to keep them out of landfills.
Also, the co-sponsor for this event, the Franklin Farm Social Committee, will collect nonperishable foods that will be donated to Community of Faith Food Bank. Since the start of the pandemic, millions of people have had to turn to charitable food assistance, and with food prices rising, food banks are seeing significantly more people needing help.
