Firefighters Rescue Cats From Reston Townhouse Fire
Firefighters have contained a fire at a townhouse near South Lakes High School.

RESTON, VA -- Two cats have been saved thanks to the quick work of firefighters in Reston Monday morning.
Fairfax County Deputy Fire Chief Dan Shaw said in a video posted on Twitter that units were dispatched shortly after 11 a.m. to the 11500 block of Hearthstone Court in Reston to a report of smoke showing from a townhouse.
Firefighters were "greeted with smoke showing from the middle unit of the townhouse; it was two stories in the front and three stories in the rear," Shaw said.

The two adults who lived there were outside of the structure when firefighters arrived, but they discovered two cats were still inside as the smoke billowed from the basement.
Firefighters jumped into action, deploying hose lines and putting the fire out within minutes, keeping it contained to the basement.

They "also removed the two cats and got them back to their owners," Shaw added.
Authorities are still investigating the cause.
