South Lakes defender Dylan Katz scored on a penalty kick to break an overtime tie and lift South Lakes High School's boys soccer team past Edison 3-2 on Tuesday.
The Seahawks (3-1) are ranked No. 8 in the Washington Post's boys soccer poll this week.

South Lakes then went ahead in the second half on a goal by midfielder Suli Dainkeh, and Edison again tied the score with five minutes to go, forcing the game into overtime.
After a scoreless first five minutes of overtime, the teams switched sides. With two minutes to go, Katz was fouled in the box. That resulted in a penalty kick that he calmly slotted passed the goalie with a shot to the lower right corner and win the game.

This was Katz's second goal in the last two games. He is currently the team's high scorer for the first four games.
Both Dainkeh and Katz dedicated their goals to honor their former club coach Ty Lewis, who passed away of cancer two years ago to the day at the young age of 44.
Lewis was a graduate of South Lakes, where he played soccer for four years and later coached several teams in the Reston Soccer Association over a number of years.
On scoring the game-winner, Katz pointed his hands' two index fingers to the sky, imitating Lionel Messi, his favorite and world's best player. When asked what that meant, he indicated that was his sign to Coach Lewis that he is still watching over his "kids".
Added, Dainkeh, Katz's teammate under Lewis, "Coach Ty was not only a coach and mentor, but also a great soccer teacher, competitor and friend".
