Support Organization for People with Hearing Loss in N. VA

Fairfax, Virginia, October 19, 2019 – Hearing Loss Connection of Northern Virginia (HLCnova), a non-profit support organization for those with all types of hearing loss (mild to severe) and the people who care about them, opened the Fall 2019 series of programs on Sept. 21, 2019, with a presentation on “Smartphone Applications for Hearing Loss”. Joe Duarte will be presenting the next meeting on October 26, 2019, at 10:30 AM, on "Home Safety for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Mild Hearing Loss". “If you have hearing loss, can you hear the alerting sounds in case of an emergency and wake up at night in time? Have you left the tea kettle on and not heard the whistle? There are home safety devices to make homes safer for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Come to our Home Safety presentation to learn more about what they are and what you can do to make your home safer.

Dr. Wade Chien from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders will speak about ‘Recent and Current Clinical Trials to Remediate Hearing Loss’.
December 2019: December - No meeting as most HLC members will be attending the NVRC 30th Anniversary Gala & Talent Showcase on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 6-10pm. For more information go to www.nvrcgala.org

January 18, 2020: Mardie Younglof, author of a monthly article on genealogy for "The Horn" in Heritage Hunt, Gainesville, VA will be presenting, ‘Getting Started in Genealogy -- a Hobby Always at Your Fingertips’.
In case of inclement weather, HLCnova follows the Fairfax County Schools policy. All efforts will be made to reschedule the Event and you will be informed as to the date.
It would be helpful if you let us know you are planning to attend this meeting, so we can plan for refreshments and chairs. Please reply to info@HLCnova.org by October 24th. If you find yourself being able to attend the meeting at the last minute after all, please just come. You will be welcome.
